LEE COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL ANNOUNCES NEW GRANT CYCLE
SANFORD -- The Lee County Arts Council’s 2021-2022 Grassroots Grants cycle will open June 21,2021
Community nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply for grants to support performances, art exhibitions, festivals, after-school arts programs, arts camps, classes or workshops. Organizations interested in applying for a Grassroots Grant should contact the Lee County Arts Council at 919-774-6139 or by email at leecountyarts@gmail.com to pick up an application.
A workshop covering all aspects of applying for a Grassroots Grant will be scheduled during July and will be open to both prospective grantees and the general public.
“This will be our 39th year as a Designated County Partner of the North Carolina Arts Council,” said Joann Thaxton, President of the Lee County Arts Council (LCAC). “These grants support arts programs and events that reflect our county’s cultural and ethnic diversity. Since the inception of the program, LCAC has distributed more than $300,000 to arts organizations in Lee County.”
The purpose of the Grassroots Grants program, established by the North Carolina General Assembly in 1977, is to support local artists with grants, a broad spectrum of educational and support services, and to develop exhibition venues and markets for local artists. The program is designed to ensure that every citizen has access to the work of local artists in all the disciplines.
